The leaders of the G7 countries agreed to develop international standards for artificial intelligence. It is reported by RBC with reference to the G7 communiqué.
“Fields such as artificial intelligence, immersive technologies such as the metaverse and quantum informatics, and other emerging technologies <…> must be updated in accordance with our common democratic values. These include fairness, accountability, transparency, safety, protection from online harassment, hate, and respect for privacy and human rights,” the G7 document says.
At the same time, as stated in the communiqué, the G7 recognizes that “approaches and political instruments to achieve a common vision [стандартов] and the goals of robust AI may differ among G7 members.” The statement notes that the study of the potential of technologies based on artificial intelligence has already been transferred to the relevant ministries. The discussion of this topic will cover the topics of governance, protection of intellectual property rights and the responsible use of such technologies.
