The G7 countries intend to step up diplomatic, financial, humanitarian and military support for Ukraine, as well as increase costs for those who help Russia in military operations. This is stated in a joint statement of the G7 countries, published on the website of the European Council.

The communiqué also expresses its intention to counter “economic coercion” and other problems in the area of trade. In addition, the G7 will address “issues related to China’s non-market policies and practices that distort the global economy.” It is clarified that we are talking about the disclosure of data and the illegal acquisition of technology.

The summit participants are expected to agree on a new package of international sanctions against Russia. According to Reuters, the G7 plans to tighten measures to circumvent restrictions, introduce new sanctions against the energy sector, and also ban imports of Russian pipeline gas to destinations where Moscow has previously cut supplies. At the same time, the introduction of a complete ban on imports of products to Russia (with a list of exceptions), which was mentioned earlier, is not yet planned.
