The Paris Mint has minted a collection of euro coins made of gold and silver, timed to coincide with the Olympic Games, which will be held in Paris in 2024. It is reported by RBC.
The coins are engraved with the image of the mascot of the Olympic Games – Frizh, who is involved in Olympic and Paralympic sports.
The collection includes nine €10 silver coins. The circulation of each of them is 75 thousand copies. The cost of coins ranges from 12 to 14 euros.
The Mint also minted two silver coins with a denomination of 50 euros (the circulation of each is 20,000 copies. One depicts Frige and the slogan “Everyone participates”, and the second shows Frige with the French flag against the background of the words “Welcome!”. Both coins are worth 59 euros.
The collection also includes two coins made of 999 gold with a denomination of €250 and €500 (they have the same value). On a coin worth 250 euros, Frige stands against the backdrop of Parisian landmarks with a French flag in his hands. On a coin worth 500 euros, Frige sits on the shoulder of Marianne, a girl symbolizing the French Republic. The first coin was issued with a circulation of 10 thousand copies, and the second – with a circulation of 5 thousand.
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) selected Paris as the host of the 2024 Olympic Games in July 2017. The event is expected to take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
