Moscow confirms the extension of the Black Sea grain initiative for two months, while calling for the fastest possible correction of the distortions in the implementation of the Russia-UN memorandum on the export of Russian food and fertilizers. According to RIA Novosti, this was stated by Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.

Earlier, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the extension of the deal.

“Thus, there is a chance, not in words, but in deeds, to help ensure global food security,” Zakharova said at a briefing. She added that Russia’s fundamental assessments of the Istanbul agreements of 2022 have not changed, pointing out that “distortions in implementation should be corrected as quickly as possible.”

Recall that the “grain deal” was concluded in July 2022. It included two parts: the Black Sea Grain Initiative – an agreement on the safe export of Ukrainian grain from the ports of Odessa, Chernomorsk and Yuzhny and the removal of restrictions on the access of Russian agricultural products to the world market.

Meanwhile, the Russian side has repeatedly complained that only part of the deal, which concerns the export of Ukrainian grain, is being implemented. Moscow insisted on the package nature of the agreement: the part that concerns Russian exports must also be implemented.

The other day, Russia’s permanent representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzya, said that Russia sees no progress in the implementation of the Russian part of the “grain deal” concerning the export of agricultural products and fertilizers to world markets.
