Solemn lines and last call ceremonies for school graduates will not take place in the settlements of the Belgorod region, which are located 15 km from the border with Ukraine. According to TASS, this was announced by the Minister of Education of the region Andrei Milekhin at an operational meeting with the government.

“In the closed border municipalities, where there is a distance learning format <…>, the format of the event is remote, in the form of a festive class hour for students in grades 1–4, 5–8, 9 and 10,” he said. The event was scheduled for May 23rd.

The Minister clarified that he was talking about the schools of the Belgorod, Borisov, Veydelevsky, Volokonovsky, Graivoronsky, Krasnoyaruzhsky and Rovno districts, as well as the Valuysky and Shebekinsky urban districts.

In settlements that are more than 15 km away from the border, festive events for 11th grade graduates can be held in person, Milekhin added.

In non-border municipalities, demonstrations will be held for students of all parallels, however, no more than 300 people can attend the event at the same time. “Schools with larger enrollments hold multiple assemblies at different times,” Milekhin said.

In Belgorod, Yakovlevsky and Novoselsky urban districts, the last bell in all schools is proposed to be held only for graduates of the 9th and 11th grades. At the same time, no more than 200 people will be able to visit the line in full-time format. For students of all other parallels, they are asked to organize it in a remote format in the form of a class hour.

On the day preceding the date of the rulers, the buildings and territories of the schools are examined by policemen and cynologists. On the day of the event, they will be taken under heavy guard. Access control will be organized on the territory of the school. The composition of guests, parents, relatives of students will be preliminarily coordinated with the leadership of the schools.

The settlements of the Belgorod region have been regularly shelled since the beginning of the Russian special operation.

Several public events have already been canceled in Belgorod this year, including the May 9 parade. The decision was made in order “not to provoke the enemy,” said the head of the region, Vyacheslav Gladkov. In mid-April, he announced that the city would not hold a prom.
