Scientists from the Federal Polytechnic School of Lausanne found that people could not make contact with aliens due to the fact that the Earth is in a “bubble of radio silence.” The corresponding study was published in The Astronomical Journal.
As noted, the search for an extraterrestrial civilization is basically an attempt to register alien messages encoded in the form of radio waves. Scientists have built a mathematical model that describes the passage of waves emitted by alien vehicles through the Milky Way.
Scientists proceeded from the assumption that at any given time there is at least one electromagnetic signal of technological origin in the Milky Way and that the Earth is in a “bubble” to which these messages do not reach. This seems quite possible, given the size of the universe.
If the assumption of scientists is correct, then according to statistics, from one to five messages per century occur through our galaxy.
Under the most optimistic scenario, with the conditions outlined above, it could take at least 60 years before we receive a message from aliens. In the least optimistic scenario, the waiting period could be more than two thousand years.
