A tree fell on five people in a park in Saratov, two of them died, according to the press service of the regional department of the RF IC.
According to the department, the accident occurred on the afternoon of May 9 in a city park in the Oktyabrsky district of the city. According to the head of the department for ensuring the safety of the population of the region, Yuri Yurin, a woman and a child died. Whether they were from the same family is not yet known. In the UK, they specify that a nine-year-old girl died.
Yurin also added that the three victims received “minor injuries.” According to him, two of the victims are children.
According to the regional prosecutor’s office, the tree grew near the playground. According to the department, it was not the tree itself that fell, but only part of it. In the footage published by the media, two large branches lie on the ground near the scene of the incident. The prosecutor’s office and the Investigative Committee are investigating the fact of the incident.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations warned residents of Saratov about gusts at speeds up to 15–17 m/s.
