The Lefortovo District Court of Moscow arrested Lenya Umerova, a native of the Crimea, a citizen of Ukraine, suspected of espionage, for two months. It is reported by RBC.

Umerova is suspected under Art. 276 of the Criminal Code, she faces up to 20 years in prison.

The 24-year-old Ukrainian woman lived in Kyiv, where she moved in 2015 from the Crimea. The girl worked as a marketer for a Ukrainian brand of women’s clothing. In early December last year, she went to Crimea to see her father, who had cancer. Umerova traveled through Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey and Georgia. She was detained at the Upper Lars checkpoint on the border with Russia, and then sent to the Temporary Detention Center for Foreign Citizens, accused of violating the rules for crossing the border, her brother Aziz Umerov told UA South.

The girl was in the center near Vladivostok until March 13. According to the brother, the court materials spoke of a demand to expel Umerova from the country, but due to the lack of diplomatic relations, the expulsion was denied. On March 14, a native of Crimea was released from the center, after which she was taken to Pyatigorsk, where a protocol was drawn up against her, accusing her of disobeying police officers. The next day, the Pyatigorsk court arrested the girl for 15 days. On March 27, she was given another 15 days for the same reason and was transferred to Beslan. On April 9, Umerova was again accused of disobedience and left in custody.
