The Ukrainian counter-offensive will take place “not in one day” and will include “many other actions” in addition to the main attack, Mikhail Podolyak, adviser to the head of the presidential office of Ukraine, said in an interview with Corriere della Sera.

Journalists in a conversation mentioned the improvement in the weather and asked if this meant that the UAF was “close to the start” of the counteroffensive. At the end of April, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov said that the troops were ready and would launch a counteroffensive “as soon as the will of God, the weather and the decision of the commanders.”

“It’s not just the weather. <…> I would like to add that all this will not happen in one day: the length of the front line exceeds 1,800 km,” Podolyak replied, adding that the operation “will include a main counteroffensive and a cascade of tens and hundreds of other actions.”

In recent months, Ukrainian authorities and Western countries have repeatedly said that Ukraine is preparing for a counteroffensive. On May 1, Reznikov said that preparations were already at the “finish line,” and on the night of May 3, Kherson authorities reported that the counteroffensive had “actually begun.”
