The German authorities have decided on the mass expulsion of Russian diplomats. This is stated in the message of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Moscow strongly condemned Berlin’s actions, adding that the German side continues to “defiantly destroy the entire array of Russian-German relations.” Russia, for its part, decided to mirror the expulsion of German diplomats from the country.
As the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, clarified, more than 20 German diplomats are being expelled from Russia.
Also, the department added, the number of German diplomatic missions will be limited. Ambassador Geza Andreas von Geyr was notified of this on April 5.
The Russian side also accused Berlin of violating the promise not to advertise “this story.” The Russian Foreign Ministry said that Germany had informed “about its idea” representatives of the media, “regularly used by it to organize“ controlled leaks ”and disinformation“ stuffing ””.
Earlier, German media wrote that German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock was going to expel more than 30 Russian diplomats. The German Foreign Ministry did not confirm these plans at the time.
