Pressed by the situation of insecurity caused by crime, distrust that the Government and the Judiciary can solve, hopelessness in the Assembly where security is not a priority, negativity due to rare opportunities for employment and pessimism that the situation will not change, I think: is it possible that I, together with many Ecuadorians, drowning in countless logical arguments, hoping that the state and its institutions will save us, while we cannot take positive actions that help us?

Are we infected with the thought that we need one leader with the power to impose discipline and order by force? However, we declare that our spirit is free, sovereign and democratic, but without the support of patriotic actions and little effort to prepare to contribute to the national production system. So we just fight and don’t do enough positive personal actions.

I participated in a conference on the positive and negative sides of belonging to the Convention on the Sea. A technician who understands the subject, a left-wing political activist, a member of the Pachakutik assembly and a former minister of foreign affairs participated. They did not achieve the given goal. The activist and congregant repeated the question several times: “What did they give us?” Will we get used to asking for something as a gift, without understanding that nothing is free, and even less so in national or international politics?

Robert Greene, an American, in his bestseller The 48 Laws of Power, states in Law 9: “Win with your actions, never with your arguments”; not explain, demonstrate; an indirect victory with many arguments is pyrrhic, because the resentment of the affected will be so intense that it will end up hurting everyone; it is most effective to coincide in positive actions. Law 40: “Despise what is free”; usually involves compromise and trickery; everything has a price worth paying and you will be free to take advantage of opportunities through work; so there will be no eternal gratitude or servility.

We must contribute positive individual acts, not ask for gifts or let ourselves be carried away by the sounds of sirens…

Do some claim that we cannot be ruled? This is why there is an ongoing political war between the elected executive and legislative branches. Their interests, hatreds and ambitions for power intensify slanders and public disqualifications, even using very intimate or family topics. Justice must act.

The political process against the President of the Republic is underway; I can’t understand why, and I don’t think most of the citizens do either. There were even accusations related to drug trafficking and an audio recording of the ministry’s request. Arguments about who should take over are being posted on social media, confusing the delicate governance scenario. Will his magical formulas be the ones we need or will his dark interests be hidden?

Arguments for or against the government create uncertainty. We must contribute positive individual deeds and not ask for gifts or get carried away by sirens conducted by false and ambitious leaders. (OR)
