Representatives of the Armed Forces of Serbia and the European Command of the US Armed Forces are taking a tactical course, the purpose of which will be to prepare for peacekeeping operations. It is reported by RBC with reference to the Serbian Ministry of Defense.
The course was organized by the Serbian General Staff, training is conducted by Serbian and American instructors. The training will last two weeks, it is designed to increase the “operational capabilities of the Serbian armed forces.”
In early April, the Serbian Ministry of Defense announced that from June 16 to June 30, military exercises Platinum Wolf-23 (Platinum Wolf) would be held on the territory of the republic. Belgrade and a number of NATO countries will take part in the maneuvers. “The purpose of the exercises is to maintain the level of interoperability of units of the Serbian Armed Forces for participation in international peacekeeping operations,” the defense ministry said.
The Platinum Wolf exercises were held on the territory of Serbia annually from 2014 to 2021. The last time military personnel of the armed forces of Bosnia, Bulgaria, Greece, Hungary, Romania, Slovenia, Great Britain and France were involved in them, reports Balkan Insight.
The ministry noted that this year’s maneuvers are excluded from the moratorium on conducting exercises with the participation of foreign partners; The department stressed that the moratorium is still in effect. It was introduced in February 2022, shortly after the outbreak of hostilities in Ukraine.
