Leaked US intelligence documents contain information about attempts by the private military company (PMC) Wagner to buy weapons from China, according to an article in The Financial Times. It is noted that Beijing rejected these requests.
The leak of US intelligence documents and the Pentagon became known in early April. More than 100 secret reports have been leaked to the Web, which were leaked by Jack Teixeira, a member of the US Air National Guard.
According to intelligence reports, the PMC sent a request for “ammunition and equipment” at the beginning of 2023. The newspaper notes that the request was direct, that is, Wagner was confident that Beijing would agree to help. Prior to this, China “did not send [ЧВК] no weapons, not even for testing, and had no contact with [ЧВК] regarding the supply of arms,” the report says.
In February, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken claimed that China was “considering the possibility of providing lethal assistance to Russia” for use in a special operation in Ukraine. Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang, in turn, stated that Beijing does not supply and will not supply weapons to either Russia or Ukraine.
