Chinese Defense Minister Li Shangfu said during talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin that he specifically chose Russia for his first visit in his position. It is reported by RIA Novosti.
He recalled that this was his first foreign visit. Shanfu admitted that he chose Russia to emphasize the “special character” and strategic importance of bilateral relations.
In his opinion, Russian-Chinese relations are superior to the military alliances of the Cold War.
Recall that the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that Li Shanfu will visit Russia from April 16 to 18. The Chinese military department said that the minister’s trip would last from April 16 to 19.
On March 20, Chinese President Xi Jinping paid a three-day visit to Moscow.
Earlier, Western media, citing Pentagon documents leaked to the Web, wrote that the Chinese Central Military Commission allegedly approved the provision of weapons to Russia. The Washington Post indicated that the Chinese authorities approve the supply of lethal aid to the Russian Federation. The materials also noted that the Chinese side planned to “disguise” military equipment as civilian supplies.
At the same time, Pentagon sources said that the United States has no evidence of China sending weapons to Russia.
