Former US President Donald Trump, after the charges against him, managed to raise $15.4 million for the election campaign in a few days, writes Bloomberg.

At the same time, almost 98% of transfers came from sponsors who transferred less than $200, 24% – from new donors. Trump raised a total of $18.8 million in the first quarter, including $4 million the day after a March 30 grand jury voted to indict the ex-president. That’s less than the $20.4 million Trump raised in the fourth quarter of 2022, including the $9.5 million that came in after he announced his intention to run for a third time on Nov. 15.

Trump’s criminal trial made him the primary candidate for the 2024 Republican election. He came out on top in popularity among the party’s candidates, according to a Yahoo News/YouGov poll following the allegations. The popularity of the former head of the White House has increased by 10% in two weeks. If in March his rating was 47% against 39% for Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, now Trump has 57%, and DeSantis has 31%. At the same time, when Trump announced his intention to participate in the elections, DeSantis was more popular – his rating was 45% against 41% for the ex-president.
