State Duma deputy Alexander Khinshtein said that a structure is being created in the Russian Interior Ministry that almost completely duplicates the functions of the National Guard. In his Telegram channel, he called such actions of the Ministry of the Interior “extremely dangerous.”
As Khinshtein writes, in Moscow and St. Petersburg, police special regiments began to be rebuilt in the image and likeness of the riot police. According to the parliamentarian, snipers, explosives technicians, and high-altitude workers appeared in them. At the same time, the states of “hominized” special regiments are also being increased, the deputy specified.
“The police leadership is actively “buying up” the OMON personnel, persuading them to transfer from the Russian Guard to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, promising additional allowances,” Khinshtein says, adding that in this way the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs is actually forming a “parallel” Russian Guard.
In his opinion, the policy of the leadership of the ministry “looks very strange.” “In conditions where the National Guard (unlike the Ministry of Internal Affairs) is directly involved in the NVO, such a“ rivalry ”is extremely dangerous,” Khinshtein warned.
