Alibaba Cloud, owned by Chinese online giant Alibaba Group Holding, has unveiled the Tongyi Qianwen language model. According to Interfax, this is stated in the message of the cloud division.
CNBC calls the technology an analogue of the ChatGPT chat bot, which attracted the attention of the world’s media and specialists earlier this year.
In the near future, the AI-based model will be integrated into all business applications in the Alibaba ecosystem. Developers and customers of the company will be able to use it to cost-effectively create customized solutions, the report says.
Tongyi Qianwen works with English and Chinese and aims to improve the user experience in various areas, including corporate communication, voice assistance, online commerce, search and entertainment.
At the first stage, the model will be embedded in the DingTalk business communications platform and Tmall Genie smart home devices, which will be able to “create and tell stories to children, suggest recipes for healthy eating, give recommendations to travelers and select background music for workouts.”
“We are at a technology divide driven by generative AI and cloud computing, and companies across all industries are embarking on an intelligent transformation journey to stay at the forefront,” said Daniel Zhang, CEO of Alibaba.
Previously, Baidu Inc. released its chatbot. The system is called Ernie and is positioned as an alternative to ChatGPT for Chinese-speaking users, wrote the Financial Times. Similar projects are launched by American Google, Adobe Inc. and Nvidia Corp.
