Russia lacks workers in many areas, President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting on economic issues. It is reported by RBC.
“Taking into account the historically minimal unemployment — 3.5% in the country as a whole — there are simply not enough workers in many areas,” the president said.
The head of state called for the solution of this problem to use the personnel potential of regions and settlements where a high level of unemployment persists. “And we have such regions,” he said.
In addition, it is necessary to apply “technologies of lean production and automation” in all industries and increase investment in training specialists in the most demanded professions, Putin stressed.
The unemployment rate in Russia in February, according to Rosstat, updated the historical minimum and amounted to 3.5%. In January this figure was 3.6%. The Ministry of Economic Development predicted that in 2023 unemployment will remain at about the same low level.
In February, the Ministry of Construction reported a shortage of approximately 200,000 personnel in the construction industry and 90,000 in housing and communal services. In December last year, the Bank of Russia said that after partial mobilization, labor shortages intensified in many industries.
