Restrictions on civil aviation flights in the airspace of Russia, Ukraine, Moldova and Belarus will remain at least until 2029. This, according to Kommersant, was stated by the European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation (Eurocontrol) in the air traffic forecast.
According to the agency, the aviation industry in Europe has not yet fully recovered from the coronavirus pandemic, in addition, problems arise in connection with the conflict in Ukraine.
Over the past year, the number of flights to Ukraine fell by 90%, to Moldova – by 61%. Fighting in Ukraine has seen an increase in flights to Southeast Europe, Turkey and the Caucasus, while Nordic states are reporting a decline in flights due to the suspension of flights through Russian airspace to Asia.
Ukraine, after the start of the Russian military operation on the morning of February 24, closed the airspace for civil aviation. The EU countries, among other sanctions, banned the use of their airspace by Russian airlines, Moscow took similar measures against European companies.
