Vice-Chancellor and Minister of Economy of Germany Robert Habek arrived in Kyiv with a small delegation of representatives of German business for negotiations on the restoration of Ukraine and cooperation in the field of energy, RBC reports. This visit was not announced in advance.
Upon arrival at the train station in Kiev, the German minister said that his trip “gives a clear signal to Ukraine” about Berlin’s belief that “it will win, that it will be restored, that there is a European interest not only in supporting those in need, but also in that Ukraine will also be an economically strong partner in the future.”
According to him, “concrete investment decisions” have either already been made or should be made. Khabek called the visit “a business delegation that gives Ukraine hope” to recover from the hostilities.
This is Khabek’s first trip to Ukraine since the outbreak of hostilities, and his first as a federal minister. The vice-chancellor said that the visit was originally planned in September, but it had to be postponed due to intense fighting.
