Germany, Sweden and Denmark have established cooperation in investigating the explosions on the Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 gas pipelines. It is reported by RBC with reference to the German media.
German prosecutors are reportedly continuing an “intensive” investigation into the case, with the country’s prosecutor general dispatching “double-digit” investigators to investigate the incident in cooperation with Sweden and Denmark. Recently, German, Swedish and Danish law enforcement agencies have stepped up the exchange of information on the case, including classified information.
Initially, the countries refused to create a joint team to investigate the incident precisely because of fears of violating secrecy. It is noted that now the situation has changed – largely due to the fact that in the Bundestag “unrest is growing” in this case.
Explosions on two lines of Nord Stream and one line of Nord Stream 2 occurred at the end of September 2022. President Vladimir Putin blamed the incident on the “Anglo-Saxons”, who benefited from the disruption of the gas pipelines. The US and UK have denied involvement in the bombings.
The incident is being investigated by Germany, Denmark and Sweden, in whose international waters the explosions occurred. In March, Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen said that Russia would not receive permission to participate in the investigation of explosions on gas pipelines.
