States that possess nuclear weapons should not deploy them abroad, and if such weapons are already outside the country’s borders, they should be removed from there, Deputy Permanent Representative of China to the UN Geng Shuang said at a meeting of the Security Council of the organization. The text of his speech is published on the website of the Chinese Permanent Mission to the UN.
“China <…> stands for the final total prohibition and total elimination of nuclear weapons, calls for the abolition of the agreement on the “sharing of nuclear weapons” and advocates that all states possessing nuclear weapons should not station nuclear weapons abroad and withdraw nuclear weapons stationed abroad” Shuang said.
Beijing, according to the diplomat, calls on all nuclear-weapon states to “effectively reduce the risk of nuclear war” and avoid any armed conflicts between nuclear-weapon states.
Recall that the deployment of Russian tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus on March 25 was announced by President Vladimir Putin. On March 31, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko expressed readiness, in addition to tactical, to accept strategic nuclear weapons, including intercontinental ballistic missiles.
