Cultural events, recovery and surveillance of spaces offers this initiative
With the Requiem 20 concert, in the presence of 200 people, 50 musicians led by maestro Jorge Oviedo, the project called “Back to the Center”. An initiative in which they join private companies for the recovery of the old town of Quito. The event took place on Wednesday, November 17, at the Church of San Francisco.
This initiative focuses on creating public spaces that are safe and attractive for your visitors. 85 tourist police They will contribute to providing security in the historic center of Quito. In addition, the placement of geraniums in the Plaza de San Francisco and its surroundings, activity that is in process.
They will be carried out cultural events during the project implementation period in order to promote visits to this historic sector and the promotion of tourist routes with variety of activities.
The president of the Quito Chamber of Commerce (CCQ), Carlos Loaiza highlighted the importance of public private alliance for the realization of this initiative. “We want to raise the sense of belonging of Quito. The historic center is a unique place (…) it comprises 375 hectares, which house not only the best preserved historical and architectural ensemble in America, but a network of social and cultural relationships that make it exceptional, “he said.
This event was attended by more than 200 people, including the Minister of Tourism, Niels Olsen, the main authorities of the city and the country, tourist guides, businessmen, union leaders, neighbors, merchants, among other actors. The management and commitment of the Franciscan community and the Municipality of Quito allowed the performance of the concert.
This initiative is led by the CCQ and the Alliance for Entrepreneurship and Innovation (AEI), sponsored by Banco del Pichincha, Corporación Favorita, Fundación Telefónica, Telefónica, Grupo Futuro, Novopan, Tesalia, Grupo KFC, among others.

A requiem is a work written as a prayer for the souls of the deceased, for their remembrance and commemoration. Requiem 20 was composed by Jorge Oviedo to honor those who died in the coronavirus pandemic. (I)
