In the city of Novomoskovsk, Tula region, police officers used weapons to detain a man who threatened to set a fire in a residential building. The attacker was wounded in the stomach and leg, according to the regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to the department, the police were going to conduct a search of a 62-year-old local resident who is accused in a criminal case (the content of the case is not specified). But the man did not let them into the apartment, barricaded himself and threatened to start a fire in the house, and when the door was opened, he splashed burning liquid at the police. After that, he retreated to the apartment, threatening with a knife, opened the gas and tried to set it on fire.
The police decided to use service weapons, the man received gunshot wounds to the abdomen and lower limb,” the Interior Ministry said in a statement.
The police gave him first aid, after which he was handed over to the medical team. Police officers received minor burns, and there were no casualties among civilians.
