Minister of Sports and Tourism of Poland Kamil Bortnichuk said on the RFM radio station that it is necessary to continue to threaten a boycott of the Olympics if Russians and Belarusians are admitted, since this warning has an impact on the IOC.

According to the minister, although the committee claimed that governments do not influence their decisions, however, the recommendations of the IOC “contain a lot of our postulates, only they are so vague, so ambiguous and devoid of criteria that this is absolutely unacceptable.” Bortnichuk clarified that these were statements sent to the Olympic Committee by sports federations and associations of individual countries.

The minister also stressed that the issue of boycott “should always be relevant in the context of contact with the IOC, because he is afraid of it.” “The IOC responded directly to our boycott threats in a statement. I know what this statement was originally supposed to be and what came out of it,” he added.

Recall that since the end of January, when the IOC first announced the possible return of Russian and Belarusian athletes to competitions, Poland opposed the admission of athletes and threatened to boycott the Games. The head of the IOC, Thomas Bach, said earlier that governments should not decide which athletes can participate in tournaments.
