Athletes-biathletes can resign from law enforcement agencies if this is the only obstacle to their participation in international competitions, President of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU) Viktor Maigurov told reporters.

At the same time, he noted that “now this is not the only obstacle that the IOC is talking about,” RIA Novosti reports. The recommendations of the IOC as a whole, the head of the RRF called “unacceptable.” “The position of the RRF converges with the position of the Ministry of Sports, the conditions for admission are unacceptable. The IBU has an executive committee meeting scheduled for today, where they will discuss everything about us. We are ready to return even tomorrow, but we do not build any special illusions, ”he added.

Maygurov also noted that a common position will be developed by all sports federations.

At the same time, the IBU press service stated that they took note of the recommendations of the IOC, but currently do not plan to consider the issue of admitting Russians. The union noted that the IBU congress in September last year made a “very clear decision” not to allow Russians and Belarusians “until circumstances change.”

Recall that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) on March 28 recommended that Russian athletes be admitted to international competitions under a neutral flag. These recommendations do not apply, among other things, to those athletes who are related to the Russian army and other law enforcement agencies. There are many such biathletes in the Russian national team.
