The Russian “daughter” of the American corporation Cargill has decided to stop the export of grain from Russia in the next agricultural year. On Tuesday, March 28, the company notified Deputy Minister of Agriculture Oksana Lut of its plans, RBC reports citing a letter, the authenticity of which was confirmed by a source close to the ministry.
Cargill’s plans to stop exports were confirmed by two more interlocutors of the agency in the grain market.
In the letter, the company notifies that in the next agricultural season 2023/2024 (from July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2024), Cargill LLC does not plan to export grain from Russia “in accordance with the earlier discussion of grain export issues and recommendations Ministry of Agriculture”. At the same time, the company confirms that shipments planned for the current 2022/2023 season will be carried out “in full in accordance with the existing quota.”
In addition, the Russian “daughter” of Cargill said that it is reviewing its portfolio of assets related to the export of grain, however, changes in relation to “any other activities and assets of Cargill in Russia are not planned and are not being considered.”
The press service of the Ministry of Agriculture confirmed that they received a notification from Cargill.
