Khinshtein announced the opening of a corruption scheme in the Russian Guard for 400 million rubles

Employees of the Investigative Committee and the FSB detained Colonel Sergey Volkov, head of the Naval Directorate of the Russian Guard, as part of an investigation into a corruption scheme in this federal service. According to RBC, this was announced by State Duma deputy Alexander Khinshtein, who previously worked as an adviser to the head of the National Guard.

“It turned out that officials of the department organized the supply of low-quality and faulty weapons at obviously inflated prices. The total damage to the budget amounted to almost 400 million rubles,” the parliamentarian said.

According to Khinshtein, Volkov is one of the defendants. The security forces searched his house and apartment and detained the colonel for 48 hours. A criminal case was initiated against him under paragraph “c” of Part 3 of Art. 286 of the Criminal Code (abuse of power with causing grave consequences). Volkov faces up to ten years in prison.

There is no information about the “Naval Directorate” on the website of the National Guard, among the structures are listed the Naval units of the National Guard troops. There is no information about their leadership.
