The brethren of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra received a new demand for eviction from building 34. According to Interfax, this was announced by the abbot of the monastery, Metropolitan Pavel.
He noted that the monks rebuilt this building from the ruins and would not be evicted either from it or from any other building of the monastery.
“Who are the director of the museum and the minister of culture? Just ordinary people like us. They must keep the law of the state and have a little fear of God. There is no court decision,” the bishop said.
He also commented on the rumors that appeared in social networks that the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky ordered to leave the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra and its monks alone. “Do not flatter yourself that someone has left us alone. If I received another letter today for us to move out! What are we talking about? They just want to “lull” us so that we don’t say anything, do nothing, just listen to new promises that are not being fulfilled at all, ”said the metropolitan.
Two weeks ago, the Ukrainian authorities for the first time demanded that the monks of the Lavra and the leadership of the UOC leave the Lavra before March 29, when the agreement with the Church on the use of property on the territory of the monastery would be terminated.
