Inmates of the Sierra Centro Norte Cotopaxi regional Social Rehabilitation Center (CRS) protested this Wednesday afternoon. But there was no mutiny as said on social networks, according to uniformed officers.
Colonel Juan Salazar, chief of the sub-zone of the National Police in Cotopaxi, ruled out a riot.
“It is only a claim by 50 PPL (persons deprived of liberty) of the medium and minimum security pavilions, claiming because supposedly the control that we carry out on the wives or relatives is strict. That is what they were demanding, we do not have any news, alteration or mutiny, “Salazar said in a telephone contact with this newspaper.
He argued that the claim was so that the meticulous control that is carried out on the relatives of the inmates is not carried out. Given this, the director of the penitentiary came out to indicate that they are the provisions that have to be fulfilled and after that calm came and everything calmed down, said Salazar.
The police chief insisted that they will continue to carry out detailed checks. And he said these work.
He gave an example that for these controls during this week four people who tried to enter the center substances subject to control, which were introduced into their intimate parts, were arrested. “How can we not continue to control,” he said. (I)
