The activity will prepare for the National Tsunami Drill, which will take place on January 31, 2022.
For this Thursday, November 18, the Government plans to carry out the National Earthquake-Tsunami Simulation. The National Risk and Emergency Management Service indicated that the scenario will be a hypothetical 7.6 magnitude earthquake registered off the southern coast of Colombia.
The event will be attended by 29 cantons that are located in the coastal profile, which corresponds to six provinces (Manabí, Esmeraldas, Santa Elena, Guayas, El Oro and Galapagos).
The entity indicated that they will install emergency operations committees and plenary sessions, work tables, among other actions for decision-making, will be held.
This will make it possible to prepare for the National Tsunami Drill, which will take place on January 31, 2022. “This exercise seeks to evaluate the capacities for activation, decision-making, information flow, implementation of strategies, and coordination and response mechanism to a tsunamigenic event in the coastal profile ”, it was indicated in a statement.
This Friday an earthquake drill will be held in Guayaquil. The idea is to evaluate and transmit practices to respond to this type of disaster.
