National Police offers shelter to travelers arriving at Guayaquil airport

Upon arrival, users must request the support of the police servers on the spot installed at the international arrivals exit.

At the international arrivals departure from the José Joaquín de Olmedo airport, a point of care was installed for travelers who require support with the protection of the National Police from that air station to their homes or places of accommodation.

This plan, called the Return Plan, is executed by the National Police in coordination with the Tagsa concessionaire from Tuesday, November 16 until the end of the year.

The service is free and will be offered 24 hours a day for those travelers who arrive at the air terminal, reported Colonel Francisco Zumárraga, deputy commander of Zone 8 (Guayaquil, Durán and Samborondón).

Upon arrival, travelers must request the backup support of the police officers in the tent installed at the international arrivals exit, on the ground floor of the air terminal.

The police chief stressed that he will have two superior officers, two junior officers and 30 operational technical servers, in addition to the support of authorities from the airport terminal.

During the accompaniment, the tour will be monitored with the tools that the National Police has in the cantons of Guayaquil, Durán and Samborondón, among them, the security cameras installed in the different sectors of those towns.

In the event that the traveler travels to a canton other than the three in Zone 8, the respective coordination will be carried out with servers from other jurisdictions so that other Police teams can carry out the post for protection during the rest of the trip, he reported. Zumárraga.

Traditionally, between November and December, Ecuadorian citizens living abroad usually arrive in Guayaquil to spend the Christmas and New Year’s festivities in the company of relatives.

Ángel Córdova, general manager of Tagsa, highlighted the importance of police custody to reduce assaults on passengers arriving in the country. “We expect to have around 3,000 daily passengers arriving in the country,” he said. (I)
