After the resignation of the governor of the Smolensk region Alexei Ostrovsky and the head of Chukotka Roman Kopin, others may follow: in particular, the leaders of the Krasnoyarsk Territory Alexander Uss and the Oryol Region Andrey Klychkov may resign, Kommersant writes, citing sources in the presidential administration.
According to three interlocutors of the publication, new dismissals of heads of regions may occur before the end of March. The possible resignation of Uss has already been reported, the reason for the weak position of the head of the region is called low ratings. United Russia Uss has been in charge of the Krasnoyarsk Territory since 2017.
Two sources of the newspaper claim that the head of the Oryol region Andrei Klychkov may also lose his post. He, like Uss, has been leading the region since 2017, but is a member of the Communist Party. According to the interlocutors of the publication, Klychkov’s work is dissatisfied in the government.
If the Oryol governor is fired, then this will be the second head of the region to leave, who is not a member of the United Russia party: Ostrovsky was a member of the Liberal Democratic Party.
Another governor facing dismissal, according to the publication, is the head of Khakassia, communist Valentin Konovalov, who has been in charge of the region since 2018. At the same time, the interlocutors of the newspaper note that Konovalov’s admission to the elections is also possible, where his rival will be the State Duma deputy from United Russia Sergei Sokol.
