The TGC-1 project for the renovation of the lands of three historic power plants in the center of St. Petersburg for a business and social function is provided for by the road map signed by Smolny at SPIEF-2022.
According to Delovoy Peterburg, we are talking about power plants on the Obvodny Canal, the embankment of the Fontanka River and Novgorodskaya Street near Smolny. These are the first three power plants in Russia built at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. Some buildings are now protected as architectural monuments. All of these power plants are operated by TGC-1, owned by Gazprom.
Gazprom noted that the equipment of the stations of the Central CHP plant, which has exhausted its resource, is being decommissioned, and it is planned to create public and business zones on the vacant sites, including educational, cultural and sports spaces, children’s centers, places for work and recreation.
In February, Interfax, citing its own source, reported that “architectural and urban design projects” had been developed for all power plants.
