Repair of the Nadezhda tunneling shield, which was used in Moscow for the construction of a double-track haul of the western section of the Big Circle Line, is in the final stage of repair.
The structure is assembled and maintained around the clock by 80 specialists, the press service of the Metrostroy of the Northern Capital (MSSS) company told. When repairing the cutting element of the Nadezhda, tank armor was used. Nadezhda will have to overcome 4.6 thousand meters.
Recall that the Hope shield was purchased 11 years ago, when the Frunzensky radius stations were being built, from the German company Herrenknecht AG. The complex is a massive structure over ten meters long.
Four years ago, the shield was handed over to Moscow, and in the spring of last year, Nadezhda returned to St. Petersburg, but was not ready for work – the equipment arrived in a deplorable state. It was required, among other things, to replace the main components. The matter was complicated by the geopolitical situation – the purchase of imported spare parts necessary for the repair was in question.
“Nadezhda” was planned to be put in order within six months – until September 2022, but the process was delayed.
