Social pensions for Russians from April 1 will be indexed by 3.3%.
As Elena Bibikova, deputy chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Social Policy, explained on her Telegram channel, “thus, the overall increase in social pensions will average 13.6%. The senator recalled that indexation is carried out taking into account the growth rate of the living wage for a pensioner in the Russian Federation over the past year.
Social pensions are calculated for four categories of citizens. The first includes people with disabilities – groups I, II, II, including those disabled since childhood, as well as children with disabilities. In addition, social pension recipients are children of a deceased single mother and children who have lost one or both parents. Accruals are made up to the age of 18, and in the case of full-time education in the main educational programs in organizations engaged in educational activities – up to 23 years.
Recipients of the social old-age pension are Russian citizens who are 65 years old (for women) or 70 years old (for men). Payments are also due to foreigners who have permanently resided in Russia for 15 years and have reached the specified age.
Also, a social pension is paid to representatives of the indigenous peoples of the North – upon reaching the age of 50 (women) or 55 years (men), who, on the day the pension is awarded, permanently reside in the areas where the indigenous peoples of the North live.
At the same time, Bibikova noted, no social pension is accrued during the period of paid employment.
