One of the statements addressed to the world during the celebration of International Women’s Day on March 8 was the end of violence against women at work, on the street and at home. From a young age, women are victims of slavery imposed by machismo, which they eventually assimilate as normal because they grew up with it. So much so that when their partners beat them, even take their lives, they think they deserve punishment. But violence is not only physical: it is also psychological and against property. And this happens in front of the children, who, after they consider it natural, repeat it later in life.
Minister Juan Zapata
And, unfortunately, we find that outside the four walls where women are massacred, anywhere, violence has become an ever-present element in our lives. We let it get out of hand, so there aren’t enough police to stop it. No one is exempt from suffering its ravages. Big and small traders are attacked daily with extortionate “vaccines”; and the residents of neighborhoods who, intimidated by the threats of criminals, agree to their criminal claims or leave the place, with consequent disastrous consequences. And the insecurity is so great that people, from all economic and social conditions, are leaving the country. It’s not important to risk your life in Darien or the Arizona desert. They expose themselves because they think that anywhere on the planet will be better than here. The number of migrants grows every day, not because they have money left for tourism or studying abroad, but because it is no longer possible to live peacefully in Ecuador, nor can one invest or build a future, due to kidnappings, assassinations, murders. and the attacks are increasing daily.
“Insecurity is not about schedules, a criminal, a murderer, has no schedule to do what he wants,” they say in Esmeraldas after the new state of emergency
And the insecurity is so great that people, from all economic and social conditions, are leaving the country.
And what kind of example do children and young people get when corrupt acts are discovered in a permanent sense and it becomes known that, except for exceptions, criminal acts occur in the police and judicial apparatus, such as the acquittal of experienced criminals? What can they think when they come out of their homes and see children of all ages and adults ruining their lives with drugs, what’s on the agenda? What can they expect when they hear some political leaders calling for mobilizations that cause social destabilization and attacks on public and private property? What can they feel when the National Assembly tries to disobey the established order and overthrow the President of the Republic under insignificant pretexts, and from the outside the dialogues of social movements with the Government are hindered because they want to gain power at all costs?
We lost the north. Far away are morality, discipline, respect and all the positive things that can be achieved through education, art and sports.
The situation is really alarming. It is time to put an end to so much violence. (OR)
