In the St. Petersburg art space mArs (Marsovo Pole, 3) on Wednesday, March 22, the final, seventeenth meeting with the historian Daniil Kotsiubinsky will take place, who will complete the story about the “fatal cycles of Russian history.” The event will be held as part of the Kvartirnik project and will be devoted to finding an answer to the question about the reasons for “Putin’s political longevity.” The start is at 19:00.
We will talk about the analytical disclosure of ways and means for the Kremlin to solve a key task for itself in the 21st century: the maximum prolongation of the state-restoration (“counter-reformation”) cycle of Russian historical longitude, which replaced Perestroika and the “inertial dashing” 90th.
What is the secret of the fact that for more than twenty years the supreme Russian government managed not only to maintain legitimacy, but to permanently build up “autocratic-legitimist” strength. What did President V.V. Putin and his team to implement in the field of political and administrative structure, electoral procedures, national politics, economics, finance, police and power regulation, interaction with the opposition, public communications with society, as well as in the field of relations with the West, the countries of the ex-Soviet bloc and ” not Western” powers?
Which elements of President Putin’s “hybrid legitimacy” historically date back to Moscow, which to St. Petersburg, and which to Soviet archetypes? Has Putin added something new, his own, to the concept of the legitimacy of Russian autocratic power? Were mistakes made by President Putin and his team in the course of solving all these tasks, and if so, why did they not lead to a drop in his rating and a weakening of his autocratic legitimacy?
And, most importantly, did Putin, who on the whole solved the super-task of restoring “effective autocracy,” succeed in achieving the super-goal of imposing the “Russian agenda” on the West, that is, the Kremlin’s version of Realpolitik? And what role did “gold” (conditionally: Nord Stream 2) play in the attempts to achieve this super-goal, and what role did “damask steel” (conditionally – “SVO”) play?
The guests of Kvartirnik will hear the answers to these and other questions.
Tickets can be purchased on TimePad or in advance of the event.
