Tuesday in St. Petersburg was the warmest day since the beginning of the year. The air temperature rose to 5.9 degrees by noon. Prior to this, the leader among the warm days of 2023 was the day of January 19, when the thermometers reached plus 5.0 degrees.

Access to the ice in St. Petersburg will be banned from March 15.

As reported in the city Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, the responsible services will intensify raids to monitor the ice situation and search for violators in the waters of the city. Violators face a fine of 1,000 to 5,000 rubles.

“Tomorrow, the flow of warm air will gradually stop, and on Thursday night the temperature will go into the zone of negative values, but in the afternoon it will again become positive. Such temperature swings are expected in St. Petersburg on Friday as well. The next wave of heat, accompanied by precipitation turning into rain, will visit the city on the Neva at the weekend. It will be longer, but this is not yet the final arrival of spring – by the end of next week, frosts will return again, ”said Mikhail Leus, Leading Specialist of the Phobos Weather Center.
