The volume of financing for the repair and reconstruction of federal roads in four constituent entities of the Northwestern Federal District, including St. Petersburg, Leningrad, Pskov and Kaliningrad regions, in 2023 will amount to 37.8 billion rubles against 38.7 billion rubles last year, writes Kommersant.St. with reference to the press service of FKU Uprdor North-West.
Overall, the volume of repairs in these regions will be reduced by 38% compared to last year, from 351 km in 2022 to 218.6 km in 2023.
The reduction in funding for repair work is taking place against the backdrop of a reduction in the budget of Rosavtodor (this year by about 200 billion rubles), Yury Agafonov, general director of the Association of Builders and Suppliers of the Road Complex (ASDOR), told the publication. At the same time, according to the expert, an increase in construction estimates should be expected due to the rise in the cost of building materials.
However, Agafonov suggested that “a slight decrease in the volume of repair work will not become critical,” since the proportion of federal highways in substandard condition is relatively small compared to the roads under the jurisdiction of the regions.
