Bali Governor Wayan Koster asked the Indonesian authorities to stop issuing visas to Russians and Ukrainians upon arrival. It is reported by TASS with reference to the newspaper The Jakarta Post.
The reason for this request was reports of “bad behavior and possible criminal activity” by Russian and Ukrainian tourists, the newspaper writes.
“I wrote a letter to the ministries asking for the abolition of the possibility for Russians and Ukrainians to receive a visa on arrival,” Coster said.
He specified that he had received messages and complaints about Russian and Ukrainian tourists. In particular, they allegedly abuse their status as tourists to look for income on the island.
Russia and Ukraine were included in the extended list of countries whose citizens can obtain a visa on arrival in Indonesia in May 2022. Such a visa is issued upon presentation of a passport valid for at least six months, a return ticket or a ticket to continue traveling to another country, proof of payment of the fee. The validity of the visa will be limited to a period of 30 calendar days with the possibility of one extension for another 30 calendar days.
