Monday will be the last frosty day, and the last winter snow will fall tonight. This was stated by the chief forecaster of St. Petersburg Alexander Kolesov.

He assures that spring is coming from tomorrow, and it will begin immediately with fairly high daytime temperatures. Up to plus 6 – plus 8 degrees during the day on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Then it gets even warmer. Precipitation will already be more in the form of rain, on some days, however, with snow.

Daytime air temperature is expected to be constantly positive, and on sunny days above 5-7 degrees Celsius. At the same time, Alexander Kolesov noted, the nights will still be cold.

He noted that March this year turned out to be cold. By the end of the first ten days of March in St. Petersburg, for the first time this winter, the snow depth exceeded 30 cm, reaching a maximum of 32 cm on March 12. On the Karelian Isthmus these days, the snow cover is up to 60-63 cm. In the east of the Leningrad Region, up to 50-79 cm .In the south-west of the Leningrad region from 30 to 50 cm.

Already from tomorrow, under the influence of heat and sun, the snow cover will begin to collapse. It will be very wet in St. Petersburg tomorrow, as everything will “leak”.

“Another unfavorable moment in this transitional period, until the sun finally dries the asphalt, is sleet on the sidewalks in the city center. During the day, at a positive temperature, the snow will melt and flow, and at night, at a negative temperature, it will freeze, ”said the chief weather forecaster of the city.
