The Taiwanese authorities intend to introduce new measures aimed at supporting the tourism sector. According to the portal The Points Guy, it is assumed that tourists coming to the country on vacation this year will be paid 5 thousand Taiwan dollars, or 12.3 thousand rubles.

The country’s leadership explains this measure by the need to attract about six million tourists this year.

It is noted that the full state borders of the country opened only in October last year due to the coronavirus pandemic, and after that, Taiwan failed to attract even a tenth of the number of travelers. The authorities note that before the pandemic, almost 12 million people visited the country, and in 2022 this figure dropped to nine thousand.

The Taiwan Tourism Bureau clarified that the payments will be transferred to travelers after arrival in digital format on a tourist card, which vacationers can use during the visit, due to which all funds will return to the tourism sector of the state.
