Blogger Valeria Chekalina and her husband Artem Chekalin are on trial for tax evasion.
According to the investigation, from July 2020 to July 2022, Chekalina, being in the status of an individual entrepreneur, used a simplified taxation scheme, although she had income from fitness marathons, which significantly exceeded the limit of 150 million rubles. The woman did not switch to the general taxation scheme, which is mandatory in such cases, and did not pay the VAT and personal income tax provided for by this tax regime.
According to the senior assistant to the head of the Main Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia in Moscow, Yulia Ivanova, she attracted her husband and other relatives as accomplices and organized the receipt of income from her activities to settlement accounts opened on individual entrepreneurs of the indicated persons, which illegally split the business and evaded payment of taxes in the amount of more than 300 million rubles.
The criminal case is being investigated under Part 2 of Art. 198, part 5 of Art. 33, part 2 of Art. 198 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which provides for up to three years in prison. Searches are being carried out at the places of residence of the defendants in the investigation.
