The first floor of the Department of Literature on Art and Music of the Mayakovsky Central City Public Library was closed for repairs. These works, as well as the adaptation of the ground floor for modern use, are scheduled to be completed by the end of 2023. The space is expected to open for visitors in early 2024, department head Olga Dovgar told Petersburg Diary.
“In the form in which the floor was before closing, it did not meet any modern requirements. It was not allowed to hold events, show films or give concerts,” she explained.
On the ground floor in the main building – the small Rotunda – after repair and reconstruction, a museum dedicated to the history of the Dutch Reformed Church, which was located in the building in the 19th century, will open.
Another space – the hall – will be adapted for holding chamber events – small exhibitions, concerts, creative meetings, conferences. It is planned to equip space for coffee breaks, a wardrobe and a lobby area.
