In Ukraine, the previously confiscated assets of ex-president Viktor Yanukovych were transferred to the management of the State Property Fund. It is reported by RBC with reference to the message of the fund.

“SPF is ready to take responsibility for the effective management of this property and ensure that it works for the benefit of our state and all citizens,” said the head of the fund, Rustem Umerov.

“Mezhyhirya” is located about 10 km from Kyiv, on the banks of the Dnieper, in the village of Novye Petrivtsy, Vyshgorodsky district, Kyiv region.

Among the transferred assets is Yanukovych’s Mezhyhirya residence (namely, a recreation center, a hotel and restaurant complex, a residential building and another building in Novi Petrivtsy, as well as 100% of Tantalit LLC and 100% of Dom Lesnika LLC, which owned these objects). In addition, an apartment, two parking lots in Kyiv and real estate in other regions, Toyota Sienna and Toyota Land Cruiser 100 cars, etc. were transferred to the management of the fund.

“Mezhyhirya” is later planned to be included in the park-monument of landscape gardening art.

Mezhyhirya was a state government residence from 1935 to 2007, when it was transferred to the private ownership of Tantalit LLC. The company, according to Ukrayinska Pravda, was associated with the Yanukovych family. The transfer took place at a time when Viktor Yushchenko was the president of the country. In 2019, the country’s Prosecutor General’s Office admitted that he could hand over Mezhyhirya to Yanukovych as a bribe.

In 2014, the residence was seized by participants in the Euromaidan. In 2017, Mezhyhirya became the property of the state. Two years later, a case was opened against Yanukovych and his son Alexander on charges of “seizing the residence by abusing his official position.” In 2021, the court arrested both in absentia.

Last year, Yanukovych’s property in Ukraine was collected as state revenue. In addition to the objects transferred to the management of the state fund, funds were confiscated – UAH 31 million and $ 85 thousand in bank accounts – and over 500 cultural values for more than 18 million euros (books, icons, paintings, antique furniture, watches, vases, sabers, guns and cannons of the 19th century).
