A wave of clashes between underage members of subcultures, including PMC Redan, is a marker of the tension that exists among the youth. Psychologist, teacher, game designer Irina Belyaeva spoke about this at a round table in the media center “On the Field of Mars”.

“In St. Petersburg for a long time there were no physical clashes of teenagers on the streets. And you need to understand that anime has nothing to do with it, a number of factors coincided. But we must be aware that teenagers want attention and for some reason go “from the Internet” to the streets, and with aggression, which, fortunately, has not yet manifested itself very much, but can increase, ”said the psychologist.

According to Belyaeva, on the one hand, there is nothing new in the interest of teenagers in subcultures: at all times, young people wanted to belong to a certain group. And such clashes are also common, as they reinforce the sense of belonging to a particular community.

“But there is something new in this situation – now everything is born on the Internet. If in the nineties teenagers interacted “in the yards, today children communicate online. Until recently, the story of the PMC Redan was a big myth, and then it was suddenly transferred into reality, ”said the psychologist.

At the same time, she added that there is nothing terrible in the very phenomenon of subcultures, and the main task of adults is to understand what children are fond of and learn how to talk to them. If teenagers are looking for refuge from problems in subcultures, then a frank conversation with parents or psychologists will help in the first place.

“At the same time, it is important for an adult to show a sincere interest in the problems of a child,” she added.

Recall that earlier teenagers who associate themselves with this subculture began to be detained in Russian cities due to violations of public order and mass fights. “PMC Redan” is an informal association, its name refers to the Japanese manga and anime Hunter x Hunter (Hunter x Hunter), which mentions the criminal organization “Genei Redan” with spiders on the emblem. Followers of the subculture wear long hair and black clothes with the image of a spider with twelve legs. The abbreviation PMC stands for “Private Military Company”. According to teenagers, they took this name as a joke.
