Oppositional Georgian deputies in parliament tried to prevent the start of consideration of the draft law on foreign agents. According to RIA Novosti, there was a brawl.

Earlier, MPs from the Power of the People opposition movement submitted to the Georgian parliament a draft law on the transparency of foreign influence, according to which it is proposed to create a register of non-governmental organizations, media and entities receiving funding from a foreign state in the country. Representatives of the ruling Georgian Dream party, who represent the parliamentary majority, told reporters that they intended to support the new bill, and if President Salome Zurabishvili vetoed it, the deputies would try to overcome it.

Representatives of the opposition party “United National Movement”, representatives of various media and non-governmental organizations gathered in the parliament building. They met the deputies – supporters of the bill with posters with the inscriptions “You are the authors of the Russian law!” and “We are losing Europe!”

Some opposition deputies, who had earlier announced a boycott of parliamentary activity, entered the hall where the committee hearing of the bill was to begin and tried to disrupt the meeting. They were forced to leave the hall by force, which caused a scuffle.
