St. Petersburg became a member of the World Tourism Alliance in the “city” category.
The certificate awarding ceremony took place in the Chinese city of Hangzhou as part of the international tourism forum Xianghu Dialogue. On behalf of St. Petersburg, the certificates were accepted by the Consul General of the Russian Federation in Shanghai Dmitry Lukyantsev.
Petersburg is unique – it is ready to receive guests at any time of the year. Participation in the World Tourism Alliance will significantly expand the geography of the guests of the northern capital. Our hospitality industry is always ready to receive them. We offer not only traditional tourism, but also event, business, industrial and medical, and many other areas. The city, for its part, has developed comprehensive measures to support tourism,” said Governor Alexander Beglov.
The main goal of the alliance is to create a platform for dialogue and cooperation, the exchange of ideas and information, the sharing of resources and communication for integrated development. The World Tourism Alliance today includes St. Petersburg, Moscow and about twenty cities in Europe and Asia.
