Since the beginning of the military operation in Ukraine, the US Department of Defense has trained more than 4,000 Ukrainian servicemen, said Lieutenant General Douglas Sims, head of the operations department of the US Chiefs of Staff Committee.
According to CNN, Sims noted that at the same time, 1,000 Ukrainian servicemen have been trained since January. The program continues to operate – in particular, the first Ukrainian battery of the Patriot air defense system is currently being trained at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. According to Sims, preparations will soon be completed.
Boris Kremenetsky, Ukrainian Defense Attache in the United States, noted that military personnel with experience in using other air defense systems were sent to study the use of the Patriot. Thanks to this, they did not have to be taught the basics, and the preparation time was reduced from several months to several weeks.
The Ukrainian military is also being trained in other Western countries, such as the UK, Germany, Denmark and Poland.
